How to schedule a fake call so your phone rings later
For a short delay, so you can put your phone down before it rings, use needacall’s 5 or 10 second delay: triple-tap, set the phone down, and it rings. For a call 30 minutes or an hour from now, use a native fake call app with a long scheduler, a Clock timer, or a friend.
needacall has to stay open on screen until it rings, so it isn’t built for long schedules.
Pick a method by how long you need
| Delay you need | Best method | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| A few seconds | needacall delay (5 s, 10 s or random) | Must stay open on screen |
| 5–60 minutes | A native fake call app with a scheduler | Download, ads, and an icon that may say “Fake Call” |
| A set time you know in advance | A friend who calls you | They have to be free at exactly that time |
| Any time, no app | A Clock timer with a ringtone | The screen shows a timer, not a call |
Short delay with needacall
- In settings, set Delay to 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or random.
- Triple-tap anywhere. While the call is pending, the chat title shows “typing…”, which looks like someone is replying to you.
- Put the phone down and look away. It rings a few seconds later.
- Changed your mind? Triple-tap again to cancel.
Long delay: what actually works
- A native app. Call Simulator on iPhone schedules calls from 3 seconds to an hour. See the comparison of fake call apps for others.
- A friend. Agree on a time: “Call me at 9:15. If I don’t pick up, I’m fine.”
- A timer. Set a Clock timer with a ringtone. It rings reliably, but anyone who sees your screen sees a timer.
Tip: you often don’t need a long schedule
Long schedules force you to guess in advance when you’ll want to leave. A trigger you control in the moment, plus a few seconds of delay, is usually more useful: you leave exactly when the conversation turns bad.
Questions
Can I schedule a fake call for an hour later?
Yes, with a native app. Call Simulator on iPhone offers delays up to an hour. A friend calling at an agreed time also works. needacall’s delays are short: 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or random.
Why use a short delay at all?
So nobody connects your tap with the ring. Tap, put the phone face down, pick up your drink, and let it ring a few seconds later.
How do I cancel a delayed call in needacall?
Triple-tap again before it rings. The call is canceled.
Will a scheduled call ring if my screen turns off?
Not with needacall: it has to stay open on screen. Native apps vary; some also need to stay open, so test before you rely on it.
Real danger = real call. needacall is for awkward moments, not emergencies. If you’re in danger, call 911 (US), 112 (EU) or 999 (UK).
